Intensive Sessions
For some children and young people, a concentrated burst of therapy can achieve in two weeks what might otherwise take months: building skills, embedding strategies, and accelerating progress in a focused, immersive way.
Our Intensive Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration Programmes are designed to be, most often, delivered during school holidays, when children have the time and energy for sustained daily input, and for families visiting from outside London who want to make the most of a short stay.
When Intensives Make Sense
Intensive programmes are particularly well suited to:
-
School holiday periods, when daily therapy can be delivered without disrupting school or routines: most commonly during the summer holidays, but also October half-term, Christmas holidays, February half-term, and Easter holidays.
-
Families travelling to London from overseas for a focused period of specialist therapy.
-
Families based outside London for whom regular weekly travel to clinic is not practical, but who can commit to an immersive block once or twice a year.
-
Children at key transition points: preparing for a new school, following a diagnosis, or after a period without therapy, who would benefit from focused, accelerated input.
-
Existing Hopscotch clients wanting to "boost" their ongoing therapy with a more intensive block alongside their regular sessions.
The Benefits of Intensive Therapy
01
Accelerated Skill Development
Intensive sessions provide focused opportunities for children to enhance motor, sensory, self-care, and cognitive skills, leading to accelerated progress.
02
Individualised Approach
Tailored interventions cater to each child's unique strengths, challenges, and goals, ensuring effective treatment plans.
03
Consistency and Repetition
Regular sessions promote skill acquisition and consolidation through repeated practice, fostering muscle memory and improved performance.
04
Generalisation of Skills
Practicing skills in various contexts facilitates their application beyond therapy settings, enhancing adaptability and success in real-life situations.
05
Parent & Caregiver Involvement
Increased opportunities for parental participation empower caregivers to support their child's progress at home, ensuring continuity of care and integration of therapy goals.
06
Maximising Progress Within Limited Time
Intensive sessions optimize limited time, making a significant impact on a child's development, especially considering constraints like school schedules or geographic distance.
07
Addressing Complex Needs
Comprehensive therapy approaches cater to children with complex medical conditions or multiple challenges, promoting holistic development across physical, sensory, cognitive, and emotional domains
