At Hopscotch, we see ourselves as partners, not just external providers. Our goal is for our clinical expertise to reach directly into the classroom, supporting the pupils who need it most, and the staff around them.

We liaise with SENCOs and class teachers as part of every assessment and therapy package, and can attend review meetings, EHCP planning meetings, and TAC meetings where clinically appropriate.

What We Offer Schools

  • Occupational Therapy assessments for pupils you are concerned about, with clear written recommendations back to your setting.

  • EHCP report writing and annual review support, produced to the standard local authorities and tribunals require.

  • Outreach visits to observe pupils in class and recommend environmental and pedagogical adaptations.

  • Sensory audits of your school environment, identifying factors that may be affecting pupils' regulation, participation, and readiness to learn.

  • Staff training and Continuing Professional Development on sensory processing, DCD/Dyspraxia, Autism, and practical classroom strategies.

What We Can Train Your Team On

Our staff training and CPD sessions are delivered by experienced paediatric Occupational Therapists and tailored to the needs of your setting. Sessions can be delivered as one-off twilight workshops, half-day or full-day training, or as a series spread across the academic year. 

Sensory Processing & Regulation

  • An introduction to sensory processing and Ayres Sensory Integration®: what it is, how it shapes learning and behaviour, and what to watch for.

  • Recognising sensory differences in the classroom: under-responsivity, over-responsivity, sensory seeking, and how each presents.

  • Building sensory-friendly classrooms and learning environments.

  • Practical sensory strategies and 'sensory diets' that staff can embed into the school day.

  • Supporting self-regulation: from sensory tools to evidence-based programmes such as the Zones of Regulation and the Alert Program.

  • Managing transitions, dysregulation, and 'meltdowns' in the school environment.

Neurodevelopmental Differences

  • Understanding Autism: sensory and motor profiles, and what truly helps in the classroom.

  • Supporting children and young people with ADHD: attention, impulse control, and movement needs.

  • Recognising and supporting DCD/Dyspraxia.

  • The overlap between sensory processing differences, anxiety, and emotional regulation.

  • Supporting children and young people with eating and drinking difficulties (delivered jointly with our Speech and Language Therapy team where relevant).

Motor Skills & The Classroom

  • Fine motor development: pencil grip, hand strength, scissor skills, and the foundations of handwriting.

  • Handwriting development and difficulties: identifying causes and supporting progress.

  • Gross motor development and coordination: what teachers and PE staff need to know.

  • Postural control, seating, and classroom positioning for learning.

  • Motor planning (praxis) and how difficulties show up in everyday school tasks.

  • Visual perception and visual-motor integration: the link to reading, writing, and maths.

Whole-School & Inclusive Practices

  • Embedding sensory-informed practice across your setting.

  • Adapting the curriculum, classroom, and routines for neurodiverse learners.

  • Supporting children with EHCPs: what good OT and/or SaLT provision looks like in practice.

  • Working effectively with external therapists and writing meaningful targets.

Bespoke Training

We also design bespoke training to address specific concerns within your setting. Whether that's around a particular cohort, an emerging need across year groups, or an upcoming Ofsted or SEND review.
